LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Changes are coming to Terminal 5 at LAX so renovations can be made ahead of the 2028 Olympics.
Starting Tuesday, the airlines in that terminal are being relocated. JetBlue will now be operating out of Terminal 1 while construction is underway.
In addition, Spirit Airlines will be working out of Terminal 2 beginning Wednesday. American Airlines will be moved to Terminal 4 starting Oct. 28.
Airport officials say the overall goal of the renovation work is to create a more comfortable and modern travel experience.
The refurbishment work includes adding two gates to Terminal 5 and a new post-security connection to make it possible for passengers to connect between Terminals 4 and 5.
In order to avoid airport congestion, officials say the Midfield Satellite Concourse
