LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Downtown Lynchburg is starting to look a little different.

Crews have hit another major milestone in the city’s downtown renewal construction project, and local businesses say they’re finally breathing a sigh of relief.

For months, cones, barriers and detours have been part of the daily view on Main Street. But now, that view is starting to change, and business owners say it’s about time.

“Once they opened up last Thursday, we were, like, frolicking in the street, so excited, so exciting,” said Aidan Perkins with Fox Borrow Books & Stationary on Main Street.

The city says reopening this area of Main Street has been a turning point after months of heavy construction.
