The Tirupati police on Tuesday served summons on YSR Congress party official spokesperson and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy in connection with his earlier allegations against the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on the alleged deaths of hundreds of cows in the goshala due to negligence.

The police have asked him to appear before them on Thursday with evidence supporting his claims. The move is seen as part of the government’s efforts to curb his continuous criticism targeting the TTD, sources said.

Bhumana had alleged that over 100 cows had died at the Sri Venkateswara Goshala in Tirupati due to negligence by TTD authorities. The allegations created a major stir in temple town Tirupati.
