LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Lawrence police arrested a man overnight who is accused of attacking a victim with a piece of wood.
The Lawrence Police Department was called to W 8th Street and Massachusetts Street around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 for reports of an assault. They found a victim with “significant facial injuries” who claimed to have been attacked by someone he knew.
He said the man, 33-year-old Shaun Donovan Bernie, used a large piece of wood to hit him multiple times before leaving the area.
Several hours later, an officer found Bernie in the Burroughs Creek Park and arrested him.
He is currently in Douglas County custody on two counts of failure to appear and one count of aggravated assault resulting in great bodily harm. He was given no bond on the aggravated assault charge.
