A dog owner has revealed how her Shih Tzu has very selective hearing when it comes to listening to what she says.

In a video posted to TikTok under the handle georgelovestreats, an Illinois woman shared footage of the moment she realized her dog George’s hearing was “highly conditional.”

The clip begins with George on the couch being told by his human companion: “come on, get up, we gotta go potty.” George’s gaze, however, is fixed on something on the floor, just off camera, and he has no reaction to what he is being told to do.

It’s at this point that his human friend decides to test a little theory. She whispers a single word: “treat.”
