Inmate dies days after suffering 'medical event' at Birmingham City Jail

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — An inmate at the Birmingham City Jail died days after being found "disoriented" during a health crisis in his cell.

Donald Sinclair, 60, died Friday at UAB Hospital, four days after guards at the Birmingham City Jail found him suffering from a "medical event" in his cell. He was subsequently taken to the hospital.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has not disclosed the cause of Sinclair's death.

The case remains under investigation.
