RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A man charged for attacking his elderly mother has been given up to eight years in prison.

36-year-old Sean Looney was found guilty by a jury last month of strangling his 66-year-old mother and of beating and punching her in the face.

The incident took place on New Year’s Day, and his mother was able to reach a neighbor who called police.

All of Looney’s charges came with a weapons enhancement and he will be eligible for parole after three years.
