RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A Washoe County jury has convicted a man for battering his girlfriend.

James Allen has been found guilty of domestic battery, domestic battery with strangulation, and assault constituting domestic violence with the use of a deadly weapon.

“This conviction delivers justice for a survivor who endured horrific abuse and had the courage to come forward,” said District Attorney Chris Hicks. “Equally important is the compassion and courage shown by the citizen who reported the abuse, reminding us that awareness and action save lives. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are reminded that breaking the silence is often the first step toward safety and justice.”
