The US Senate has confirmed a new United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.
Harold “Hal" D. Mooty III, from Montgomery, was confirmed on Tuesday in a vote of 66-32.
US Senator Katie Britt from Alabama said the confirmation vote received the most bipartisan of any judicial nominee.
Britt praised Mooty’s record and said she was proud to vote in favor of his confirmation.
Britt said, “Having known Hal for 24 years, I have seen firsthand his relentless pursuit of excellence, commitment to the rule of law, and dedication to our great state. I have every confidence Hal will apply our laws fairly, uphold the Constitution, and serve with distinction as a federal district court judge.”
