Famous chess grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky has tragically passed away at the age of just 29.

The California native’s passing was unexpected, and a cause of death has not been announced.

Naroditsky’s club, the Charlotte Chess Center, announced his death on Monday, and his family has since confirmed it in a statement.

“It is with great sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Daniel Naroditsky. Daniel was a talented chess player, educator, and cherished member of the chess community, admired and respected by fans and players around the world,” they wrote.

Naroditsky was also described as “a loving son, brother, and loyal friend.”
