The City of Madison approved the first reading of its 2026 budget appropriations ordinance during its regular commission meeting on Oct. 20.
The first reading took place after weeks of discussion on the city's projected budget woes, where City Administrator Jameson Berreth and City Finance Officer Amy Sad revealed the city's plan to reduce the general fund budget by 5-10% from its 2025 appropriations. Currently, the 2026 budget stands at just over $12 million for the city's general fund. ×
