Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer has claimed Australia’s ambassador to the United States, Kevin Rudd, is “patently ineffective” after President Donald Trump publicly blasted the ex-prime minister for making disparaging comments against him in the past.

Although Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and President Trump’s first bilateral meeting was viewed as a success, the event was soured when the President tore strips off Australia’s ambassador.

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell asked President Trump why the meeting had taken so long to organise and questioned whether it had anything to with Australia’s position on climate change, Palestine or Mr Rudd.
