Democratic Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui announced Monday that she’s going to take on incumbent Republican Stavros Anthony for the job of Nevada lieutenant governor in 2026.
Jauregui had announced in August that she would not seek reelection to her District 41 seat in Las Vegas that she’s held for eight years. She rose to the rank of majority floor leader.
Among the main functions of Nevada’s lieutenant governor are tourism and economic development.
In her campaign announcement, Jauregui said she would focus on reviving tourism statewide by investing in local attractions and growing the number of international visitors.
