A handful of pro-Palestine protesters staged a sit-in demonstration imploring the governor and other Minnesota officials to divest taxpayer money from companies and institutions it believes are "complicit" in Israel's ongoing war in Gaza.

The protest, held in the lobby of the Retirement Systems Building in St. Paul, coincided with the Minnesota State Board of Investment's quarterly meeting on Tuesday morning.

The State Board of Investment, chaired by Gov. Tim Walz, hasn't met since March. Meetings are usually held in the Retirement Systems Building, but the board met virtually on Tuesday due to the planned protest.

Also present during the meeting were Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Attorney General Keith Ellison, State Auditor Julie Blaha and Secretary of State Steve Simon.
