NEW JERSEY (PIX11) — Amazon has been accused of depriving its delivery drivers of proper wages, benefits and worker protections in a lawsuit filed by the New Jersey Attorney General.
In the lawsuit filed on Monday, Attorney General Matthew Platkin claims New Jerseyans working as Amazon "Flex" delivery drivers have been unlawfully misclassified as independent contractors rather than employees of the e-commerce giant.
What is a "Flex" Driver?
Amazon's flex program has been a part of its New Jersey delivery system since at least 2017, according to the lawsuit. Flex was introduced to enlist drivers for same-day or next-day delivery for some of its products.
