There is the potential for increased fire danger across Virginia on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The affected areas include most of the central and southern parts of the state, as well as northeast North Carolina.

There will be a low humidity — below 30% — with wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, leading to increased danger.

In general, the weather service urges the public to be careful when engaging in activities involving fire, such as burning yard debris, having campfires or using fire pits. Especially in the spring and fall, when vegetation can be dry and winds higher.
