NORFOLK — Norfolk State football coach Michael Vick confirmed Tuesday that changes have been made to his defensive coaching staff, days after reports surfaced that multiple assistants were no longer with the program.
Vick declined to name specific coaches but acknowledged that some are “no longer with the team,” calling the decision part of his responsibility to raise the program’s standard.
“That’s my job as a leader,” Vick said. “Not to say that it hasn’t been a success in some areas, it’s just what I expect is far more than what we’ve been getting so far. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. I expect certain standards, and as long as I’m the head coach, I’m gonna make the right decision, do what’s best for the team.”
