The Mobile City Council could vote next week on an amended version of an ordinance introduced in September to crack down on blighted and vacant properties downtown.

After the council’s meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 21, Council President C.J. Small said the body will review the changes District 4 Councilman Ben Reynolds suggested during the pre-meeting work session and may finally vote on the proposal Mayor Sandy Stimpson unveiled roughly seven weeks ago to create a registry of vacant properties inside the Henry Aaron Loop, as well as stricter maintenance guidelines for property owners.
