Chaotic scenes played out inside and outside the Smoothie King Center on Monday night during the second of Baton Rouge rapper NBA Youngboy's two sold-out concerts.

Some fans tried to force their way into the arena. In response, security locked down the doors and, at least temporarily, stopped admitting anyone, even legitimate ticketholders.

Videos posted to social media showed groups clustered near the closed doors or running toward them.

The scene was “chaos,” said Justin Brown, a former police officer who founded and runs Empower You NOLA , a nonprofit organization and social media initiative devoted to criminal justice issues.

“Kids were running around just crazy. People stormed inside multiple times, pushing themselves in.”
