An incident at Meadowridge Academy in Swansea, Mass., which led to the death of a 53-year-old Riverside resident, is now being investigated by authorities.

According to a statement from Bristol County District Attorney, Thomas M. Quinn, III, on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at approximately 6:55 p.m., a “physical interaction occurred between a 14-year-old female school resident, who was attempting to leave a dorm building without permission, and staff.”

The staff member, identified as Amy Morrell, a resident of Riverside, was reportedly kicked in the chest by the student while she and other members of the staff tried to “restrain” the student.

“Shortly after being struck, the victim collapsed. Staff began CPR and called 911. Swansea EMS transported the victim to a local hospital,
