The search for missing paddler Jon Naeole, 59, of Kaneohe, resumed at first light this morning at Kailua Beach Park.
Naeole has been missing since Sunday morning, and the search began after his overturned, one-man outrigger canoe was found floating near Flat Island.
Multiple agencies responded and searched Sunday until sundown, as well as at first light and until 7 p.m. Monday. Among those searching in the water and by air are the Honolulu Fire Department, Ocean Safety, Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard.
HFD received a 911 call at 9:33 a.m. Sunday, reporting an unmanned outrigger canoe floating near Flat Island. A foil surfer later found a paddle floating in the ocean.
On Monday, two units conducted a shoreline search while HFD’s Air 1 helicopter
