TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A suspect was found and taken into custody a day after Tampa police said he hit and killed a pedestrian on North 50th Street and kept driving.
Detectives said evidence pointed to 30-year-old Jeramey Sanders as the person behind the wheel in the deadly hit-and-run crash.
The initial incident happened around 8 p.m. Monday, near North 50th Street and East 30th Avenue, according to the police department.
Authorities said a woman in her mid-40s was hit by a car that had been heading southbound on North 50th Street.
The driver took off, leaving the victim in the roadway, and a second vehicle then hit the woman. Officials said the second driver stayed on scene, called 911 and cooperated with investigators.
