One of your main goals in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is to climb up through battling ranks, but doing so pits you against Royale Trainers, whose teams you must beat in promotional matches to move forward. With strong Mega Evolutions at their side, many Royale Trainers are among the toughest opponents in the game, wielding squads of strong Pokémon you need to counter in order to win.

You'll face Royale Trainers throughout your adventure, mainly at critical points in the story. Some of your choices even impact what Pokémon some Royale Trainers use, mostly depending on the initial starter in Legends: Z-A that you pick. As mandatory battles some of the time, you'll have to train your team up to deal with Royale Trainers at some point or another.
