CLEVELAND — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Ashland County as well as the central portion of Richland County until 7:15 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, radars detected a strong storm moving east at 35 mph near Shelby and Ontario around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mansfield and Ashland are among the communities expected to be in the storm's direct path.

Besides heavy rain, residents should be on the lookout for wind gusts of up to 60 mph, as well as damage to trees and power lines. The alert comes as Northeast Ohio is expected to deal with cooler temps and scattered showers through most of this week.
