FRANKFORT, Ky. — LG&E customers will see their bills increase in the coming months, though not as much as the utility originally requested after several groups intervened in the rate case.

Under a newly announced settlement, LG&E's residential electric customers will pay an extra $5.04 per month on average. Gas customers will see an $8.10 monthly increase.

The hike is roughly half of what LG&E initially sought — a $18 to $22 monthly increase that drew opposition from advocacy groups including the Sierra Club of Kentucky.
