TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Homing Project (THP) celebrated the opening of Esperanza Village, its first Transitional Housing Village for unhoused individuals, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 18.
Esperanza Village, co-founded by Raj Garewal and Dr. Kris Olson-Garewal, aims to tackle the pressing issue of homelessness in Tucson by providing immediate shelter. The village features prefabricated micro-houses that can be set up quickly and are designed to help residents transition to permanent housing.
“The Homing Project is playing a vital role in expanding access to housing in Tucson by bringing more tiny homes to our community, a crucial part of the broader housing continuum,” Tucson Mayor Regina Romero said.
The site, located in the Stone Avenue and Fort Lowell Avenue area, is leas
