Alleghany Highlands Public Schools reopens after being closed due to threat

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will reopen Wednesday, October 22, according to the school division.

The school division was closed Tuesday, October 21 due to an overnight threat .

After close consultation with law enforcement, AHPS officials have confirmed that it is safe to resume normal operations. Below is a joint statement from AHPS Superintendent Kim Halterman and Alleghany County Sheriff Kyle Moore:
