BOTETOURT CO., Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin says the state is accelerating construction that will improve a dangerous section of Interstate 81 in Botetourt County.

The goal of the project is to straighten the S-curves near Arcadia.

Youngkin stopped near exit 168 Tuesday morning, as he travelled to a workforce housing investment project announcement in Bristol and an economic development announcement in Duffield.

He told WDBJ7 the Commonwealth Transportation Board recently committed an additional $270 million to speed up the work in Botetourt.
