WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A man arrested in last week’s deadly shooting on a Wichita city bus made his first court appearance on Tuesday, in which he was formally charged for the violent crime.

A judge charged Travis Finney, 34, with first-degree murder in the shooting near Wichita’s Delano neighborhood that killed 54-year-old Reginald Griffith. Finney is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Wichita police said that Finney and Griffith were two of seven passengers on the bus at the time of the shooting last Thursday, Oct. 16, near Douglas and Meridian.

While police continue to investigate a motive in the shooting, they said it’s believed that Finney and Griffith knew one another.
