LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Open enrollment for health insurance will take place from November 1st to Jan. 15, 2026.

This is the one chance per year, barring any life events, where people are able to enroll in, or change their marketplace coverage entirely.

Shoppers must select a plan by Dec. 15 in order to receive benefits at the start of the new year.

But one thing consumers may come to find is a significant increase in insurance premiums.

Rick Notter, the Vice President of Individual Business for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, calls 2025 “An unprecedented year” when it comes to health insurance, with the average insurance rate increasing 20% nationally.

But he says Michigan’s is even higher.
