SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Sarasota County Commissioners said Tuesday they will consider new restrictions for powered boats and personal watercraft such as jet skis near South Lido Beach.

Commissioners were concerned about powerboat activity coming close to the beach, possibly endangering swimmers.

In June, a 19-year-old minor-league baseball player in the Baltimore Orioles’ organization died in a jet ski crash off Lido Beach.
