The British brass ensemble Septura presents an admission-free concert centered on American classical music at Clemson University’s Brooks Center on Oct. 28.
The seven-member group’s program is titled “American in Paris” and features a brass arrangement of George Gershwin’s famous piece of that same name. Among other works to be featured are musical excerpts from Scott Joplin’s rarely heard ragtime opera “Treemonisha.”
Keeping with the concert’s American/Paris theme, the program opens with works by French composers Ravel and Debussy.
The septet spotlights accomplished classical musicians who hold principal positions with some of Britain’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony, BBC Symphony and the Philharmonia.
