The Prime Minister's plane has been diverted due to a medical event after leaving Washington following Anthony Albanese's first meeting with US President Donald Trump.

ACM has confirmed the event is in relation to a member of the RAAF and not the PM.

The Royal Australian Air Force plane departed from Joint Base Andrews on October 22, Australian time, and was scheduled to arrive in Honolulu before continuing on to Australia.

But the flight was diverted to St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri after the medical event occurred.

No further details have been shared on the diversion so far.

Mr Albanese said his first meeting with Donald Trump was "terrific" and "couldn't have gone better", speaking to the Today Show before his departure.
