After plenty of speculation, Jonathan Kuminga will start in the Warriors' 2025-26 NBA season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena.
Kuminga will start at the 4 for Golden State alongside Draymond Green at center, while third-year guard Brandin Podziemski will join Steph Curry in the backcourt with Jimmy Butler at the 3.
That means new Warriors center Al Horford will come off the bench in his regular-season debut.
Kuminga, who was involved in contract negotiations that dragged on throughout the summer and ended in a two-year, $48.5 million deal, reportedly was assured a larger role in coach Steve Kerr's lineup this season. The young forward started 10 games for the Warriors last season and 84 games overall in four seasons with Golden State.
