HINTON, IA (KTIV) - Tuesday night, some Plymouth County residents cast their votes in a school bond election that, if passed, would pay for millions of dollars in improvements to schools in the Hinton Community School District.

Tuesday, satellite voting was set up in the Hinton Elementary School for the $8.9 million bond on the ballot in the Hinton School District.

At the high school building the money will pay to make bathrooms ADA compliant, improve the heating system, remove asbestos from the flooring, replace windows, and make some classrooms larger.

At the elementary school, the money would pay to add two classrooms to accommodate growing enrollment.

Superintendent Ken Slater says the repairs are basic necessities to keep the school “viable”.
