A Redcar dealer found with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine and MDMA began selling to pay off his own debt after a drugs binge. Jason Plaice was pulled over by police officers earlier this year in a Peugeot following intelligence that the car had been involved in drug dealing.

Prosecutor Jenny Hague said officers found £40 worth of cocaine in the car as well as £320 in the 32-year-old's wallet and front console. A further search of his home uncovered a bowl of white powder - containing cocaine - estimated to be worth £6,400.

Officers found 24 bags of cocaine estimated to be worth £480 as well as 201 MDMA tablets, with an estimated street value of between £7,000 and £14,000 according to a drugs expert. Plaice was arrested and when asked in custody if he had any items on him, he respon
