Kristin Nelson and Garrett Dixon will now go head-to-head in a runoff election after neither candidate received more than 50% of the vote in Tuesday's special election primary for House District 38.
HD38 includes voters from parts of Lee and Chambers Counties. The runoff is scheduled for November 18.
According to unofficial results, Nelson was the frontrunner with 1,226 votes (46.69% of the ballots cast). Dixon finished second with 874 votes (33.28% of the vote), while Micah J. Messer came in third with 526 votes (20.03% of the vote).
