It looks like the Minnesota Vikings will soon be getting some help in the backfield. How soon? We don’t know yet, but it could be as early as this Thursday when they face the Los Angeles Chargers.
The team has announced that they have opened the practice window for running back Aaron Jones, and he could be added to the active roster in time for Thursday’s game. He was listed as being “limited” in Tuesday’s walkthrough practice.
Jones hasn’t been on the field since Week 2, when he suffered a hamstring injury in the Vikings’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons. In his absence, the Vikings have leaned heavily on Jordan Mason, and Mason has looked pretty solid as the lead back. Zavier Scott has also seen some action as Mason’s primary backup in Jones’ absence.
