NEW YORK — Direct-to-consumer sock brand Bombas is venturing into brick-and-mortar retail for the first time, opening three company-owned stores this fall and expanding its wholesale presence to include Target and DSW.
The New York-based company, known for its comfortable socks and "buy one, donate one" social mission, opened its first retail location Friday in New York City's West Village. A second store is scheduled to open Oct. 24 in Boca Raton, Florida, followed by a third location in Austin, Texas, in mid-November.
Until now, more than 90% of the company's revenue has come through its website, with less than 10% generated by existing wholesale partners including Nordstrom, Dick's Sporting Goods and Scheels.
