Tim Stutzle was whistled for slashing 25 seconds into overtime to send Edmonton to the power play. Walman, who was activated off injured reserve on Monday, made Ottawa pay as his shot from the high slot beat Linus Ullmark to end the game.

Edmonton superstar captain Connor McDavid converted on the power play in the first period for his first goal of the season.

Reigning Hobey Baker Award winner Isaac Howard scored his first career NHL goal as Edmonton, despite squandering a two-goal lead in the third period, snapped a three-game losing streak. Stuart Skinner made 19 saves to record his 100th career win.
