SEATTLE — In the Seattle Kraken’s fifth season, the creatives behind the fan experience decided to switch things up and challenge themselves, by building a brand new 16-foot-high, 24-foot-wide, 1,700-pound “S” shaped entry piece.
“I remember the first time I walked in the building and it was down, just the sheer size of it,” said Caitlin Salemi, Seattle Kraken director of Entertainment Experience.
“My mouth just kind of dropped and I was one of the ones who created it,” said Salemi. “I still kind of had that wow moment. But honestly, it really hit me.”
This new showpiece is what players will pass through as they head onto the ice.
It will be lowered next to the bench pregame and then lifted back up to the rafters once the game begins. It’s something that took some time to figure out.
