The clock dipped under a minute to play as the Thomas Johnson girls flag football team broke the huddle on second-and-goal. There stood Patriots senior Zoe Nso lined up on the right side, a dangerous red-zone threat who typically plays defense but had been reliable when needed in the receiving game.
But when Nso looked around, she realized she lined up in the wrong spot. Instead of resetting, as the time ticked below 40 seconds, Nso told freshman quarterback McKenna Long to just go ahead.
