As former Yipirinya School principal Gavin Morris awaits sentencing for aggravated-assault against former students, the roadmap for how the education department and the school plan to safeguard children remains locked behind a confidential report.

Last week Morris was found guilty on four counts of aggravated-assault , including choking one student, holding another in a chokehold, and dragging two pupils by their ears.

Alice Springs Local Court Judge Anthony Hopkins also found Morris directed racial slurs at students during two of the incidents.

Yipirinya is an independent school for Indigenous children built in central desert of Mparntwe/Alice Springs.
