TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona CEO Natalie Jayroe said federal funding changes cut the Emergency Food Assistance Program , which made up a lot of their resources, in half.
John N., a food bank customer, said he’s noticed a difference in the food he sees on the shelves.
“There’s plenty of like vegetables and breads like that, but there hasn’t been meats in a couple of months,” John said.
Jayroe admits that the food bank has struggled to provide as many protein options as it once did.
“We’ve lost some food sources, our private food sources, which really is three-quarters of what we distribute, is stretched to the max, and now we’re getting lots of requests from families and groups and organizations that want to do special distributions for the g
