ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Alexandria City Councilwoman Lizzie Felter (District 4) raised concerns after a new ordinance was introduced that could once again change the city’s council district lines.
At the October 21 council meeting, Council President Cynthia Perry introduced legislation that would revert Alexandria’s council maps to the 2022 version.
Felter did not seem to be fond of the decision.
“It just seems like an unnecessary move to put this legislation forward,” Felter said.
In April 2024, the council voted 4–3 to approve updated district boundaries for Districts 2, 3 and 4. The changes were led by Felter, who said her precinct was previously being written out of her own district.
Only three of the city’s 42 precincts were adjusted based on 2020 Census data, according to Felt
