Dana Thermal Products has informed state labor officials that about 200 workers at its Auburn Hills manufacturing plant are being laid off.
The company is permanently closing its facility on Giddings Road, plant manager Chris Dodge wrote in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice issued to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
The letter, dated Oct. 8, states that initial layoffs were expected to begin Oct. 9 and continue through Jan. 31, 2026. Dodge wrote that the layoffs will be permanent.
The company attributed the facility closure to "unforeseen and immediate reductions in customer orders." The reduction in orders was "driven by lower demand for electric vehicles," the company told WJBK (Channel 2) in a statement.
