CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - USA gymnastics will be coming to Charleston next June for the first time, bringing 500 athletes to the city for a national championship event called GymFest.
“Anytime you can bring a USA Olympic sport into Charleston, people are going to appreciate it and support it,” said Tim Brady, Charleston CVB President and CEO.
“We’re going to be doing this kind of a gymnastics, well-being extravaganza. This is going to be a real good thing for the city,” Billy Bob Taylor, owner of Maverick Gymnastics, said.
Taylor, who has been the owner of Maverick Gymnastics for nearly 50 years, said this event gives athletes of all skill levels and ages a chance to win and even get attention to compete at the next level.
