Two days after Diwali, Delhi’s skies remained shrouded in a smoky haze as pollution levels surged far beyond permissible limits across the city. On Wednesday morning, residents woke up to a dense blanket of smog, with the national capital’s air quality continuing to languish in the ‘very poor’ category.
At 5:30 a.m., Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 345, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Despite the Supreme Court’s ban on firecrackers, several areas across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) reported widespread violations during Diwali celebrations.
