BOISE, Idaho — Three of the five defendants who were arrested in connection with an alleged illegal horse race gambling operation in Wilder appeared for the first time at the federal courthouse on Tuesday.

Two of three defendants were released with conditions, while a third was ordered held pending a detention hearing.

Ivan Tellez, owner of La Catedral Horse Arena, and Alejandro Torres Estrada were released following their court appearances. Samuel Bejerano was remanded to custody due to prior criminal offenses and will face a detention hearing Tuesday.
