Nuatali Nelmes believes now is a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to unlock new jobs, boost freight capacity and grow tourism in the region.
The Property Council Hunter and Central Coast regional director’s plea follows the $250 million expansion of Newcastle Airport, which officially opened its international terminal last month.
Direct flights to Bali also began this week.
A paper, drawn up by the organisation’s Hunter Committee, cites the Williamtown precinct as central to the future prosperity of the Hunter and its role as Australia’s largest regional economy.
